Products that do what Visualizing How Books Reference Each Other Across 3k Years does

There are two parts for this project: 1) The LLM-powered pipeline to extract citations (books + authors) from books and resolve them using both Wikipedia and Goodreads with offline copies I have. The result is data associating Books/Authors to other Books/Authors with accurate bibliographical information spanning centuries. 2) A WebGPU + D3.js powered visualization tool written by Claude Code so I'm able to deal with all this data on the browser on a more or less comfortable experience for the viewer. I spent some months on a off with this project, and definitely the most…

Let's try a small experiment with LLMs that have a large context length: feed an entire book into the context window and ask it to generate a list of characters, their relationships, and physical descriptions—data that can later be used for image generation. In this repository, you can find two tools: a script that extracts data from book text using an LLM (Gemini or OpenRouter API) and an HTML/JS (D3) visualization of the character graph. An external text-to-image model can be used to generate character illustrations (a Google Colab example is provided). Explore the visualizations,…

Hi HN, Over the past 6 months I've been working on a technical book focused on helping aspiring data scientists to get hands-on experience with cloud computing environments using the Python ecosystem. The book is targeted at readers already familiar with libraries such as Pandas and scikit-learn that are looking to build out a portfolio of applied projects. To author the book, I used the Leanpub platform to provide drafts of the text as I completed each chapter. To typeset the book, I used the R bookdown package by Yihui Xie to translate my markdown into a PDF format. I also used Google docs…

I've been working on Lurnby for 2 years. It's kind of like a mix of pocket + kindle + anki. It lets you => add add epubs, pdfs, and web articles to the app => highlight and add comments => tag and organize highlights => review them with a spaced repetition system Today I made the decision to open source the project. I'm passionate about helping other people learn to learn better and hope that this will allow a lot more innovation in the tool and the space. I'm very new to open source and development in general really, but looking forward to receiving the guidance of the community.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a project that I've been working on the last few days that I finally finished last night: https://50books.org This is a simple site designed to track your reading list into 2015. My personal goal is to read 50 books this year, and I wanted to hold myself accountable. Major sites like Goodreads are great, but were too much of a social network for my personal taste; on the other hand, using a text file (which was my 2014 solution) was too difficult to track and share. I built https://50books.org using Sinatra, sqlite3 (via datamapper), and…

My story: I founded this a couple of years ago because my school (I was 11/12 at the time) had recently purchased a library system which was horrible and ugly. I thought it could be made much better, so I coded for months on end to get this product working. I submitted this to a TV competition on national TV and got the opportunity to pitch this product in front of 500,000 viewers. I received a bursary of €2,000 from the show and used that money to grow the business. Currently the business is thriving and is growing rapidly. I'd really appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks, Shane

Most book summaries on the internet are not detailed enough. In this project, I've tried to create detailed chapter-level summaries that retain a greater level of detail and vocabulary of the original. The aspiration is for these summaries to be a credible alternative to reading the books themselves. Website hosted on Vercel: https://book-summary-pro.vercel.app/ The code behind the project on GitHub: https://github.com/cosmic-glitch/book-summarizer Request additional books:…
