24 alternatives to Visualizing Kubernetes Traffic
Kentik Labs is a community hub developed by the team at Kentik.com. At our core, we are the data-dreaming network nerds who built an observability platform that makes much of the internet go.
Visualizing Kubernetes Traffic is a development tool that helps engineers understand and monitor network traffic within Kubernetes clusters. It provides visual representations of how data flows between services and… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. A lot of Kubernetes observability projects require very invasive deployments. My team was looking for something more lightweight and non-invasive, so we built the network mapper, an open source project which uses DNS traffic to map service traffic within Kubernetes clusters. We’ve just added a CLI that creates a graphical map of your cluster using graphviz: otterize network-mapper visualize. I’m curious to learn: Is such a map valuable to you? How would you use the information? Do you already have a map of your cluster, and was it difficult to acquire?

I built an interactive explorer for Kubernetes resources spec A few things included: - Tree view with schema, type and description of all native resources - History changes since version X (properties added/removed/modified) - Examples of some resources that you can easily copy as a starting point - Supports all versions since X, including the newly released 1.32 - I also want to add support for popular CRD, but I’m not sure how I’ll do that yet, I’m open to suggestions! Everything is auto generated based on the OpenAPI spec, with some manual inputs for examples and external links.…

Hi Everyone! Kubetail is a general-purpose logging dashboard for Kubernetes, optimized for tailing logs across multi-container workloads in real-time. With Kubetail, you can view logs from all the containers in a workload (e.g. Deployment or DaemonSet) merged into a single chronological timeline, delivered to your browser or terminal. I launched Kubetail on HN last year and at that time the top request was to add search. Now I'm happy to say we finally have search available in our latest official release (cli/v0.4.3, helm/v0.10.1). You can check it out in action here:…

Hello Everyone, I'm excited to introduce a new open-source observability platform and would love to hear your feedback. We are aware that there are lots of open-source/commercial tools out there. However, we believe that monitoring the clusters and extracting actionable insights requires deep know-how about the tools/domain. We mainly focused on this problem. - Alaz is an eBPF agent installed on your K8s cluster as DaemonSet. Thanks to eBPF, Alaz collects traces directly from Linux kernels. This means there's no need for sidecars, instrumentations, or service restarts. - The UI not…

Kerno▲132Hey HN! Anibal, Sean, Vlad, Maxi and Karim here we're the co-founders of Kerno (https://www.kerno.io/). We're building a zero-hassle tool to help developers monitor and troubleshoot their services in a way that makes sense. No complex rollouts, no custom infra, no tons of instrumentation, no sidecars… none of that! Just a minimum effort, out-of-the box, highly contextualized and interactive experience so you and your team can focus on shipping! We basically scan your cluster resources, build usable abstractions on top of all the kubernetes craziness, identify monitor your…
