Hello HN! I became frustrated with the unpredictible/poor match quality and opaqueness of "relevance scores" in existing fuzzy and fulltext search libs, so I tried something different and this is the result. The main selling point is the result quality / ordering, with best-in-class memory overhead and excellent performance being bonuses. The API is pretty stable at this point, but looking for feedback before committing to 1.0. TL;DR The test corpus is a 4MB json file with 162k words/phrases, so give it a second for initial download. You can also drag/drop your own…

Hi HN! I've been fed up with search results so much that I decided to make a giant blocklist to remove garbage links by using uBlacklist. I browsed other blocklists and wasn't very satisfied from what exists now; the goal of this one is to be super organized and transparent, explaining why each site was blocked via issues. Contributions welcome! Even though around 100 domains are blocked so far, I already noticed a big improvement in casual searches. You'd be surprised how some AI generated websites can dominate the #1 page on DuckDuckGo.

Watup Hackernews, We have created a new type of search engine that searches on the full source code of webpages, not just the on-page text. It's called NerdyData (nerdydata.com) and we're launching today! Our search engine is different from search engines you've used before. Traditional search engines are geared towards providing answers, whereas our goal is to give you the best list of results for a query. Our crawler has visited over 140 million homepages and collected terabytes of HTML, Javascript, and CSS code. We've also designed several search interfaces that allow anybody to query…

Hey HN! Just want to share a project of mine called Giggle. It uses Google's Programmable Search Engine service to apply allow- and block-lists to your searches in an easy way. I've shared it before[0] but just went through and refreshed/refactored a ton of things. Two things to note from the changes are it no longer uses Puppeteer for Google login and the license is now MIT. Happy to answer any questions! [0] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31067354
