Hi HN! Wikiwho is a tool that scans Wikipedia edits and extracts those coming from specific IP ranges associated to known organizations. I've made this as a for-fun side project two years ago. If you want to read more on how it works I've written a short blog article about it here: https://ailef.tech/2020/04/18/discovering-wikipedia-edits-ma... I had already posted it here at the time (previous discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22907200) but I've now decided to release the code openly, hence the repost. If you're insterested, you…

Hi HN, WikTok is a UI for Wikipedia that lets you quickly swipe (or use your arrow keys) to navigate between random and recommended articles (based on the previous articles you interacted most with). It's just a fun project I hacked together this weekend, so may be a little rough around the edges, but I'd love to get your thoughts. Let me know if you have any suggestions (or find any interesting articles!) Cheers,

While summarizing videos (I'm the Eightify founder), I've been secretly working on an AI-generated encyclopedia, and here's why. I found myself thinking a lot about AI and content. Now we have knowledge (think Wikipedia) and intelligence (LLMs). They will both significantly improve soon. What we lack is *a knowledge interface for humans*. What I don't like about current interfaces: - ChatGPT: to get an answer how I want it, I need to craft a perfect prompt - Google: need to spend time avoiding affiliates and unreliable sources - Wiki: great, but boring to read, too much information What I…

Connect two articles on Wikipedia, but do it the long way. I've always been a fan of the theory of six degree of separation, but it's an overused concept when exploring the Wiki-graph. Instead of showing the shortest path, which in my opinion is "boring" and ends up connecting super-important central articles, I came up with my own method: WikiBinge selects the smaller, less represented articles on Wikipedia. In a WikiBinge path, the underdogs are the kings! How does it work? It's pretty straightforward! Compute PageRank on the Wiki-graph and assign as weight of each edge the PageRank value…
