24 alternatives to Write universally accessible SQL, not library-specific ORM wrapper APIs
A pure ORM for writing native SQL queries yielding pure business objects - craigmichaelmartin/pure-orm
This is a development tool for writing SQL code that works across multiple database systems without being locked into any single ORM's specific syntax or API. Instead of learning vendor-specific wrapper functions… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Long story short: We (Dataherald) just open-sourced our entire codebase, including the core engine, the clients that interact with it and the backend application layer for authentication and RBAC. You can now use the full solution to build text-to-SQL into your product. The Problem: modern LLMs write syntactically correct SQL, but they struggle with real-world relational data. This is because real world data and schema is messy, natural language can often be ambiguous and LLMs are not trained on your specific dataset. Solution: The core NL-to-SQL engine in Dataherald is an LLM based agent…

I spent a few hours last weekend testing whether AI can replace code by executing directly. Built a contact manager where every HTTP request goes to an LLM with three tools: database (SQLite), webResponse (HTML/JSON/JS), and updateMemory (feedback). No routes, no controllers, no business logic. The AI designs schemas on first request, generates UIs from paths alone, and evolves based on natural language feedback. It works—forms submit, data persists, APIs return JSON—but it's catastrophically slow (30-60s per request), absurdly expensive ($0.05/request), and has zero UI…

Hey HN, we want to share HelixDB (https://github.com/HelixDB/helix-db/), a project a college friend and I are working on. It’s a new database that natively intertwines graph and vector types, without sacrificing performance. It’s written in Rust and our initial focus is on supporting RAG. Here’s a video runthrough: https://screen.studio/share/szgQu3yq. Why a hybrid? Vector databases are useful for similarity queries, while graph databases are useful for relationship queries. Each stores data in a way that’s best for its main type of query (e.g.…

Hello everyone! I'm exited to share a NodeJS package I was working on for the past two months. The package is designed to simplify querying SQL databases through an array-like API. Qustar supports PostgreSQL, SQLite, MySQL, and MariaDB, and offers TypeScript support for a robust development experience. It's in early stage of development. I would like to hear your thoughts about it.

I created this ORM to fill a gap in the Python ecosystem. Due to the nature of typing in Python there are no other Python ORMs that can provide correct type hints. Prisma Python manages to work around this by auto-generating python types. Aside from static type checking, providing type hints means that you will get autocomplete suggestions for you which for me is the killer feature for this ORM (see the GIF in the README for an example). It's also built on top of Prisma, a next-generation ORM for TypeScript which means that the core query building and connection handling has been battle…

Hi HN, we're Eric and Dean, creators of SchemafreeSQL. Its roots go back to an on-line Web App Development Environment we developed back in 1999. It was comprised of an IDE, Web Server, Object Store, Virtual File System, Template System, and polyglot (Java, JavaScript, and Python). Of course, we named it “.OS”. Then we ended up dropping it. But that's a story for another time. It was the ease of use of the Object Store from .OS that we really missed, which brings us back to SchemafreeSQL. It provides an enhanced API to your SQL Database which allows it to function as a Schemaless…
