Products that do what Yuzu – The Stock and Crypto GraphQL/Streaming API for Rapid Development does
Hey HN! Excited to show off Yuzu, the stock market and Crypto API we wish we always had. We built Yuzu to solve a problem we had while working on a prior project: current market data APIs are not built to enable rapid prototyping and scaling without a significant amount of upfront data engineering. In our previous app, a portfolio tracker, we had to ingest 30 years of historical data for stocks, crypto, ETFs, and mutual funds just so that we could re-expose that data to our frontend in a more efficient way. The number of API calls we would have had to make otherwise have made the app…

Hey everyone! I am an enthusiast trader and a year ago I had this idea to create a free-to-use website that would feature all the most essential tools that traders would use on a daily basis. So I learned to code and build it—I did everything including design, texts, code, and SEO—which took me 12 months to launch and a year and a half to make it look like it currently does. I was into marketing and design before, but I didn't know barely anything about coding. The website is built using Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Typescript with Framer Motion animations and lots of APIs. I’m actively…

Hi everyone, we recently launched our cryptocurrency pricing site we have been working on for a few months: https://chainsage.com Currently we are aggregating data from 200+ exchanges for 2000+ assets. Being cryptocurrency enthusiasts and investors ourselves, we were frustrated with the lack of filtering/sorting options existing providers of similar data had. For example, here's a live dashboard of assets with at least $100k in trading volume and a 10%+ USD price increase in the last 24 hours:…

Hi HN, We’re a small team working on 13Radar.com, which we launched about two weeks ago after 4 months of development. I’m the founder, and together with the team we’re building a platform that tracks hedge fund portfolios in real-time based on SEC Form 13F filings. AI has been a major helper in our workflow. For a single webpage, we often consult multiple AI systems in parallel, generating different versions and comparing them side by side before deciding on the final design or implementation. More than 60% of the research, design, and coding involved AI assistance. For UI design we used…

It's at http://finkin.com. The goal is to allow a developer to sign up in seconds, and within minutes begin querying data. It runs under https and stores no access information. From http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1431583, I realized that all those types of sites are not tailored to developers like the other simple APIs around the web are (i.e. flickr). I made mine as simple as I thought possible. From http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1676458, I realized that eventually it should be a scalable model where you pay pennies per the # of requests you make. Right now it supports many…

Hi HN, we’re Taylor, Colton, and Jason and we’ve been building Hedgehog.app - a robo-adviser for cryptocurrency that is registered and examined by the SEC*. Hedgehog automatically manages diversified portfolios of cryptocurrency for retail and institutional investors, and tracks your holdings wherever they are: Cefi or Defi. We know that HN tends to be divided on cryptocurrency-related topics, with some people interested and involved and others skeptical or critical. Obviously we find ourselves in the prior camp, but we also completely agree that the cyclical excessive hype and outright…

Hey HN, I'm Steve, co-founder of Factor.fyi, a new data platform for querying and visualizing financial datasets using SQL. During the pandemic, I took much more of an active role in managing my portfolio. I wanted to be able to make informed decisions about the investments I was making, and explore financial data in new ways. Market and Econ data are some of the most talked-about and widely-available datasets out there, but I was frustrated by the lack of options to answer questions I had, like, "What would have happened if I had started dollar-cost averaging VTI back in 2013?"[1] Or, "How…

Hi HN - I'm Yashu and I've been building Ninethirty for a while. The problem: I do my own research, and a variety of tabs open for screening, charts, financials and so on; and then a chat window where I'd paste numbers for an LLM to reason and analyse them. We built NineThirty to solve a bunch of these problems - * A screener that goes deep and is genuinely customizable - fundamental, technical, news, and event criteria in the same query, not three separate tools. Besides, the problem does not end with screening - (almost) instantly backtest to understand historically what stocks have come…

Hello Hacker News, I'd like to share an investing/personal finance social news site I've pushed live a couple of days ago. It's based on the lobste.rs codebase, slightly repurposed to be more focused on discussion rather than link aggregation. I assume there’s a significant userbase overlap with HN since most of you who work in computing are well-positioned to retire early. There’s a running joke on /r/financialindependence that they are 99% software engineers. It's live at https://bitmia.com – if you’d like an invite, feel free to request one on the site. Hopefully…

I made 2024 Crypto Recap to make an engaging way to see how your crypto portfolio stacked up this year. If you aren't someone who spends all day monitoring the latest in crypto, but still have some crypto on eg Coinbase, you might have a general sense of how your portfolio is doing, but might not know other things like: - How did your portfolio fare vs the S&P 500 this year? - What were your best and worst trades, if you had any? - How does your crypto behavior compare to others? I made 2024 Crypto Recap to make a fun, quick way to see all these in a familiar format. I had the idea to make…

I posted this a few weeks ago and the server died under the traffic. Fixed that by adding an in-mem caching layer with Redis/valkey and added CloudFront caching for static content. Also upgraded the server. Also fixed the Firefox bugs, trying again. It's a research tool for US stocks. Financials for ~10k companies pulled from SEC filings. You can chart any metric across companies, filter news by ticker, ask questions in plain English and get a chart back. There's also SQL console against the whole database, which is the part I like to use together with the AI chat (generates an SQL…
