Products that do what ZetaJS – client-side LibreOffice widget and automation in the browser does
ZetaJS wraps ZetaOffice, a WASM version of LibreOffice - and makes accessing the entire gamut of the LibreOffice programmability interfaces from JavaScript convenient, idiomatic & extremely fast. If you always wanted an entire client-side office suite in the browser, that you could fully automate with JS & seamlessly embed in your web apps - and on top of that, be able to self-host it & keep all data on the client, since there's literally no server involved (except for some static wasm & JS blobs) - then this might be for you.

Libredesk is a 100% free and open-source customer support desk, the backend is written in Go and the frontend is in Vue JS with ShadnCN for UI components. Unlike many "open-core" alternatives that lock essential features behind enterprise plans, Libredesk is fully open-source and plans to always stay this way. It's in alpha (v0.1.0) right now, but there’s a working demo available. I built this because I wanted a truly open and self-hosted alternative to platforms like Chatwoot, Intercom, and Zendesk. Would love feedback, suggestions, and thoughts from the community. GitHub:…

Inspired by the design and UI/UX of apps like Notion, and utility of open-source apps like StackEdit, I decided to create a minimalistic, local-only WYSIWYG Markdown editor. Some features worth highlighting: - Monaco editor and Prettier integration for code snippets - Tables (apparently the holy grail of WYSIWYG editing) - Embeds (for CodePen, CodeSandbox and YouTube, most useful for HTML or JSON exports) - Accepts Markdown paste-in, and "exports"/generates HTML, Markdown and JSON outputs - Collaboration (with real-time awareness and initial commenting system, available only when…

Hi HN! Last year, we shared marimo [1], an open-source reactive notebook for Python with support for execution through WebAssembly [2]. We wanted to share something new: you can now run marimo and Jupyter notebooks directly from GitHub in a Wasm-powered, codespace-like environment. What makes this powerful is that we mount the GitHub repository's contents as a filesystem in the notebook, making it really easy to share notebooks with data. All you need to do is prepend 'marimo.app' to any Python notebook on GitHub. Some examples: - Jupyter Notebook:…

Hi everyone! For our graph database, Memgraph [1], we have just built a WASM-based JavaScript client adapter called jsmgclient. One of our engineers has described in depth the process that he has used to achieve this. [2] If you have used WASM can you take a look at our approach and tell us what you think about our approach? Do you see any things that we should have done differently? [1] https://memgraph.com/ [2] https://memgraph.com/blog/wasm-introducing-the-very-first-wa...

I've open sourced a JavaScript to WASM compiler. It's an experimental tool, but given the semantics I already implemented, I'm fairly certain I am able to eventually cover 100% of JavaScript spec. Any ideas, questions or critique welcomed! If you are interested in WASM, especially with new proposals like WASM GC or exception handling, it might be a good source of seeing these features in action - the project has a few thousand lines of hand written WAT so far.

We needed a JS-first WYSIWYG DOCX editor and couldn't find a solid OSS option, most were either commercial or abandoned. As an experiment, we gave Claude Code the OOXML spec, a concrete editor architecture, and a Playwright-based test suite. The agent iterated in a (Ralph) loop over a few nights and produced a working editor from scratch. Core text editing works today. Tables and images are functional but still incomplete. MIT licensed.

We launched marimo [1], an open-source reactive Python notebook, last year on HackerNews. Today, the most popular recent feature request in Google Colab’s issue tracker asks for marimo support in Colab [2]. Rather than try to convince Google to replace their notebook with marimo, we decided to just build our own cloud-hosted notebook service instead. We're calling this molab (mo for marimo), and we're launching it today. You can try it at https://molab.marimo.io Some features: - Persistent storage - Link sharing (notebooks are public but undiscoverable, like secret GitHub Gists) -…

Hi! Leporello.js is an interactive functional programming environment designed for pure functional subset of JavaScript. It executes code instantly as you type and displays results next to it. Leporello.js also features an omnipresent debugger. Just position your cursor on any line or select any expression, and immediately see its value. Leporello.js visualizes a dynamic call tree of your program. Thanks to the data immutability in functional programming, it allows you to navigate the call tree both forward and backward, offering a time-travel-like experience. Leporello.js offers the ability…

Hi HN! Last month, we shared marimo [1][2], an open-source reactive notebook for Python. For those who missed it, marimo notebooks are reproducible, stored as Python files, executable as Python scripts, and deployable as web apps. It’s now possible to run marimo notebooks entirely in the browser via WebAssembly (WASM). - A marimo tutorial as a WASM notebook: https://marimo.app/l/c7h6pz - Training a neural network with Karpathy’s micrograd: https://marimo.app/l/xpd4te - Visualizing attractors, as a read-only app:…

QuickBEAM is a JavaScript runtime embedded inside the Erlang/OTP VM. If you’re building a full-stack app, JavaScript tends to leak in anyway — frontend, SSR, or third-party code. QuickBEAM runs that JavaScript inside OTP supervision trees. Each runtime is a process with a `Beam` global that can: - call Elixir code - send/receive messages - spawn and monitor processes - inspect runtime/system state It also provides browser-style APIs backed by OTP/native primitives (fetch, WebSocket, Worker, BroadcastChannel, localStorage, native DOM, etc.). This makes it usable for: - SSR…

I created jendeley to help organize documents for programmers. - jendeley is JSON-based. You can see and edit your database quickly. - jendeley works locally. Your important database is owned only by you. No cloud. - jendeley is browser-based. You can run it anywhere node.js runs. Repository: https://github.com/akawashiro/jendeley
