Hi all, I've talked about glidesort a few times on HN already, but it's finally ready for release. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. An academic paper on glidesort that goes into a lot more detail than the readme is upcoming, but is not ready yet. I will be giving a talk on glidesort tomorrow at FOSDEM 2023 in the Rust Devroom at 16:10, you can seek me out there as well. In other news, I am leaving academia soon, so if you have interesting (Rust) jobs the coming months feel free to approach me.

My Downloads folder had been left unkept for a really long time and cleaning it up using Finder was quite cumbersome. So I started creating a simple app to help me filter out and delete or move the files in the folder. It started out very basic and the filtering options genuinely helped me clean out the Downloads folder, then as I thought of more features I would like to see in a file manager I started to add them. Some of the features are: - Fuzzy go to folder/file where you only need to write a few letters of a full path, get suggestions and can jump to the correct path instantly -…

I'm a consummate note-taker and have used tools like Evernote, Obsidian, Notion for years. However, I recently begun moving towards a command line workflow using helix etc for my coding, and wanted to port my notes over to this workflow. zenkat is a project that aims to give back some of the 'superpowers' that note-taking apps give you, like tags, knowledge graphs, and so on, while being FOSS (GPLv3). Super happy to hear your feedback as it helps me improve the project, or to take pull requests.

Hi HN, I built a lightweight Windows tool to organize files by relocating them while maintaining their accessibility through symbolic links. The idea came from needing to tidy up my cluttered file system without breaking file paths used by other applications. NeatShift solves this by automating symbolic link creation whenever files or folders are moved. Key Features: - Relocate files without breaking existing references. - Automatic system restore points for added safety. - Modern Windows 11-style UI with drag-and-drop support. - Manage and validate symbolic links easily. It’s free, open…
