In plain words
A Python tool that generates jigsaw patterns for 3D printing large objects. Developers use it to break down oversized models into printable pieces that fit standard printer beds, then reassemble them afterward. The tool automates the tedious process of manually sectioning models, saving time when working with bigger designs that exceed typical printer dimensions.

I really like the idea of a fully automated pipeline 1 when I build anything – it’s highly satisfying to see a machine do all the work for you. Combine this with parametric design, and it makes iteration and customisation a breeze. My flagship example is my recent speaker project. With the previous speaker project I was literally at the margins for the largest speaker I could comfortably make with my 3D printer – without significantly more work splitting up the design. I was looking to see what large format printers were out there – there are a handful but they’re expensive and possibly not as capable as what I have now. Then I happened to watch a video where Richard from RMC 3D prints an…from calbryant.uk

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

21st.dev▲1,211I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
