8BitAlarm

What it does

This alarm clock makes sure you never oversleep by letting you choose a mini game from our catalogue to play when your alarm rings. Survive in the game for 30 seconds to stop your alarm or keep respawning until you do! The games are designed to be just stimulating enough that your early morning sleepiness completely fades away. Enough of opening every app on your phone to get the dopamine to stay awake.

I built this because I kept turning off alarms half-asleep and going back to sleep. Instead of snoozing, the alarm only turns off after you complete a short mini-game (memory, math, reaction, tilt). Would love feedback on whether this actually helps people wake up.

  Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481

Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

  Performative-UI – A react component library of design tropes▲1,181

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
