In plain words
This machine learning model estimates salaries based on LinkedIn profile information, designed for recruiters and hiring teams in the Bay Area. It uses Latent Semantic Indexing to analyze profile data and maps job titles to salary predictions using GlassDoor salary information. The tool helps hiring managers quickly assess compensation ranges for candidates during recruitment.

Some time ago, I tried to scrape every Bay Area profile off LinkedIn until the site blocked my entire office network (Lesson learned: Use a proxy) . This was Bad because we were (and still are!) hiring . The goal was to collect enough data to create a set of classifiers that could estimate a person’s salary from their LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn profiles were decomposed using Latent Semantic Indexing and mapped to salary estimates based on users’ current job titles. I scraped all the Bay Area salary information from GlassDoor . Now when we encounter a new profile, we can perform a similarity query, find the nearest matching profiles, and return their salaries. Previously this was all…from elaineou.com

Hey HN! I'm excited to show off this side project I've been working on. This project matches your resume with the best matching jobs from the monthly HN Who's Hiring post. It works by creating a vector embedding of your resume using OpenAI's embedding API, and then ranking the jobs using a vector similarity score. (You can toggle between max inner product, cosine, and euclidean in the "Advanced Options") I was laid off in August and it took a whole 6 months for me to find my new job. Fortunately, I found my new role on January's HN Who's Hiring post. So I hope this will prove useful to any…

Hi HN! A few days ago I saw a graph[0] that showed the # of job postings on HN was declining. I started wondering what other trends I could glean from the data, so I created this! You can filter through the top level comments by keyword; for example you can filter by "remote" to see the massive spike around March 2020. Another interesting thing I found is that I can compare hiring across cities. I hope you enjoy! I made it so that the links to your search are sharable so if you have some interesting data you should be able to just link the page you're on! [0]…
Interactive AI Resume/LinkedIn for better networking/job hunting2023 · protoconstruct.com · ▲66Generally, I found resumes too vague to get to know anyone (hence why no one networks with them), professional blogs too low ROI, walking up to people unscalable, and cold messaging fairly low success-rate. I wanted the 'marketing tool' of networking to get myself out there. Something that lets me: 1) Draw people into a conversation before they've realized it 2) Make them remember me and ultimately reach out to me 3) See what people asked me so I can further refine my interactive profile and start the networking cycle again So I built a website where anyone can create these interactive…

As a founder, finding early customers is always a challenge. I'd come up with specific guesses for people to talk to - such "VCs that used to be startup founders" or "Former lawyers who are now CTOs." Running those types of searches typically involves opening dozens of LinkedIn profiles in tabs, and looking at them one-by-one. And, it turns out that going through LinkedIn profiles one-by-one is a daily job for many people. I started building Find AI to make it easier to search for people. I initially started just having GPT review people's LinkedIn profiles and websites, but it cost…
- JCJob Compass – AI agents that help you find jobs, not replace you2025 · jobcompass.ai · ▲30
My friend and I got tired of job hunting (347 applications, 4 responses) so we built AI agents to help job seekers instead of replacing them. The problem: 73% of applications never reach humans, 250+ people apply to each job, but 85% of positions are filled through networking. Our solution: AI agents that find hiring managers for any LinkedIn job, analyze your profile fit, and generate personalized outreach messages. Instead of competing with hundreds in the application pile, you reach decision-makers directly. Technical bits: LangChain + OpenAI for job parsing, Next.js + Supabase, custom…
