A Multi Purpose Debug Visualizer for VS Code

Extension for Visual Studio Code - A visual watch window that lets you visualize your data structures while debugging.

A Multi Purpose Debug Visualizer for VS Code launched on October 1, 2019 with 6 votes, #1,208 of 3,363 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 7 years on.

What it does

A VS Code extension for visualizing data structures while debugging. Like the VS Code's watch view, but with rich visualizations of the watched value. See demos for demos. These languages and debuggers are verified to work with this extension: All other languages and debuggers might work too. For languages with Basic Support , only JSON strings can be visualized - you must implement some logic that builds this JSON for your data structure! Fully supported languages offer Data Extractors which convert some well known data structures to json. After installing this extension, use the command Debug Visualizer: New View to open a new visualizer view. In this view you can enter an expression that…from marketplace.visualstudio.com

Hey HN, I just built an experimental VSCode extension called LLM Debugger. It’s a proof-of-concept that lets a large language model take charge of debugging. Instead of only looking at the static code, the LLM also gets to see the live runtime state—actual variable values, function calls, branch decisions, and more. The idea is to give it enough context to help diagnose issues faster and even generate synthetic data from running programs. Here’s what it does: * Active Debugging: It integrates with Node.js debug sessions to gather runtime info (like variable states and stack traces). *…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
