agent-coherence

What it does

Two AI agents (two sessions, or an agent and a script) read the same file and both write it back. The later write silently clobbers the first: no error, the work is just gone. agent-coherence is a drop-in guard that catches the stale read before the overwrite lands, so the stale writer is denied and re-reads first. It ships as an MCP server, a LangGraph store drop-in, and a Python library. Single-host today (2+ agents on one machine); cross-host is opt-in, demo-grade. Open source, TLA+-checked.

When agents share state, one reads stale and silently overwrites the newer version. agent-coherence denies that stale write on a single host. LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen.

It shows up anywhere two sessions, subagents, or processes share a file, a plan, or a store. One reads v1. Another commits v2. The first writes back, and v2 is gone, with no error raised. agent-coherence denies that stale write — through CoherentVolume for shared files and write_cas for store keys — makes the writer re-read, and hands the loser a typed conflict to retry. On a LangGraph store, drop-in CCSStore covers the read side: a peer's commit invalidates your cached view before you act on it. The lost update never lands silently, sequential or concurrent, on a single host.
