AI Buddy
This is a weekend project I created due to my frustration with the classic terminal applications that have the issue that if I restart my Mac, then my Claude Code instances or my shell instances—are stopped, and I have to manually run them again. Plus, they are not quite optimized for running multiple Claude Code instances, so I created this project to address this issue.
AI Buddy launched on June 17, 2026 with 4 votes, #3,322 of 22,647 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches.
What it does
AI Buddy is a free, open-source Chrome extension that changes how you interact with AI while browsing. Select any text on a webpage and send it to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or DeepSeek — no copy-pasting. Capture annotated screenshots with crop, highlight, and arrows before sending. Features 10 starter scenarios, keyboard shortcuts, and per-platform send behavior. Privacy-first: no backend server, your data goes directly to the AI platform you choose.

I created this tool because I honestly didn't want to pay a monthly subscription fee for other apps, and I also needed it to be a bit more reliable and wanted to be able to take screenshots in a particular way that's useful for working with Claude Code.
