An immutable ostree-based Arch Linux image
i've been a big fan of fedora's atomic distros and i decided to make my own but arch based to get the best of both worlds, which is kind of funny now because it looks exactly like silverblue. is it worth it? not sure, but it's been a interesting experience – and it's usable as a daily driver if your specs match. worth noting that because of the constraints of the setup you can develop something similar on your main machine without any realistic possibility of data loss since you never really touch the bootloader or the filesystem (partitioning and so on).

In plain words
This project is an immutable, ostree-based Linux distribution built on Arch that applies principles from Fedora's atomic distros. It provides a stable system where the core filesystem and bootloader remain untouched, minimizing data loss risks during development and experimentation. The distribution functions as a daily driver for users with appropriate hardware specifications, combining Arch's package availability with immutable infrastructure benefits.

ostree, arch linux, zen4, gnome. look ma, no package manager! - myyc/vyy
An ostree-based full fledged Arch Linux distribution, with no package manager. Basically Fedora Silverblue but with CachyOS' Zen4 packages, because we all want that 1% performance improvement. It's a largely vibe coded attempt at essentially gerrymandering a standard GNOME-based Arch Linux setup into Fedora's immutable system. And yes, it works perfectly in its current state. This README isn't written by an AI though so you can at least take it at face value. Warning : This project is work-in-progress and even though it is very usable and stable it might miss some random stuff here and there. sudo bootc switch ghcr.io/myyc/vyy-zen4:latest Reboot. bootc upgrade to update it. Local-First Linux MicroVMs for macOSFeb 2026 · shuru.run · ▲213Shuru is a lightweight sandbox that spins up Linux VMs on macOS using Apple's Virtualization.framework. Boots in about a second on Apple Silicon, and everything is ephemeral by default. There's a checkpoint system for when you do want to persist state, and sandboxes run without network access unless you explicitly allow it. Single Rust binary, no dependencies. Built it for sandboxing AI agent code execution, but it works well for anything where you need a disposable Linux environment.
I've built a nice home server OSApr 2026 · lightwhale.asklandd.dk · ▲194ohai! I've released Lightwhale 3, which is possibly the easiest way to self-host Docker containers. It's a free, immutable Linux system purpose-built to live-boot straight into a working Docker Engine, thereby shortcutting the need for installation, configuration, and maintenance. Its simple design makes it easy to learn, and its low memory footprint should make it especially attractive during these times of RAMageddon. If this has piqued your interest, do check it out, along with its easy-to-follow Getting Started guide. In any event, have a nice day! =)
distri: a Linux distribution to research fast package management2019 · michael.stapelberg.ch · ▲92Over the last year or so I have worked on a research linux distribution in my spare time. It’s not a distribution for researchers (like Scientific Linux), but my personal playground project to research linux distribution development, i.e. try out fresh ideas.
WarpBuild – x86-64 and arm GitHub Action runners for 30% faster builds2023 · warpbuild.com · ▲154Hey HN, I’m Surya and I’m excited to show you WarpBuild! WarpBuild provides fast, secure `x86-64` and `arm64` Github actions runners. This speeds up your workloads by 30%, at half the cost, and takes ~2mins to get started. We’ve been seeing pretty good results since we opened up signups a week ago and I’ve shared some numbers publicly here [1]. Currently, we support linux runners for Github organizations (not personal accounts) and MacOS support is coming soon (~Jan). The way the runners work is deceptively simple: Runners are assigned to hardware that is ideal for build workloads with fast…
