Anything Grid

A daily grid game where answers are anything in the universe

What it does

Anything Grid is a daily grid game where anything in the universe is an answer. Every day at midnight ET, there's a new 3x3 girdEach cell sits at the intersection of two categories - fill it with anything that fits both. Your answers are scored based on how niche / popular they are. The more obscure your pick, the lower your score (and lower is better). Key features: 7 score tiers from "Universal" to "Obscure" Archive mode to play past grids Dark mode, mobile-friendly, no signup required

    Figure is a daily logic puzzle game2022 · figure.game · ▲417

Hello, HN! Figure is a little side project I’ve been working on. Someone described it as Bejeweled meets Wordle. I built the puzzle interface and website in Next.js and React, which was a first for me and overall a great learning experience. The daily puzzle data is queued up in a PostgreSQL table. Another table stores anonymous solve stats. Once a day, a cron job hits a serverless API that promotes the next puzzle as “live” and prompts Next.js to update the prebaked static site with the new data. The game state is managed with Redux and your stats are persisted to localStorage. Framer…

    Lights Out: my 2D Rubik's Cube-like GameOct 2025 · raymondtana.github.io · ▲82

"Lights Out" is a mathematical puzzle that lives on an grid where each cell of the grid is one of two colors: either red or white. The goal is to eventually get all the cells in the grid to be red. What's the catch? Clicking a cell will not only flip its color, but also that of all cells sharing the same row or column as it. To me, this game feels like playing with a Rubik's cube --- every time you think you are fixing one cell, you mess up its neighbors! There are many ways to arrive at a solution... some mathematical (linear algebra, or combinatorics), others more logical,... and yet…

    Omiword – A daily, sector-based word puzzle2025 · omiword.com · ▲56

Hi everybody. I occasionally make little browser-based games, and this is my latest attempt. It's not quite done, but it's quite playable (note: it does include audio): https://www.omiword.com/ This has been my occasional tinker target for ~5 years now, starting in the early days of Covid. The objective is to drag letter tiles within certain boundaries to spell four common American-English words. It hasn't got ads or anything, it's just supposed to be fun for its own sake. If people happen to like it, I might add an option for folks to make a small, one-time payment to unlock…
