What it does
AstroLina is a modern, open-source astrocartography mapping tool for curious minds. Made together by an astrologer and her son.

My mom, Lina, has spent years deep inside astrology—blending psychological, evolutionary, and traditional principles into something she’d be the first to say she’s still figuring out. “Who makes this shit up?” she’d laugh, mid-analysis, because every day brought something new. I grew up around that language, and eventually it pulled me in too. When I watched her bump up against the limits of existing astrocartography tools, I built her one. She brought the astrology, I brought the engineering, and somewhere in between, AstroLina took shape. We launched it on the birthday of Jim Lewis, the astrologer who popularized modern astrocartography—it felt right to honor the field he defined. Three…from astrolina.org

Hello HN! My name is Rémy and I recently published an astronomy dashboard where everything is open source: the code of the website, the framework it is based on and the library that computes astronomical data. For the last few years, I have been developing the Ruby library Astronoby (https://github.com/rhannequin/astronoby) with as much dedication and perseverance I could while I don't have any scientific academic background. My end goal was to use this library and build a website that not only provides as much data as possible, but let anyone access and understand how it…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
