AWS-Powered Open Source Document Management with OCR and AI Metadata

I'm one of the co-founders of FormKiQ, an Open Source DMS that runs on AWS. After almost three years of development, we've finally reached the point (v1.11.1) where we think our project can go head-to-head with other document management systems when it comes to all of the expected functionality, including OCR, Encryption, Intelligent Document Processing, and Fulltext Search. FormKiQ deploys into your AWS account, but you can also try out our demo account via our website at https://formkiq.com Thanks!

AWS-Powered Open Source Document Management with OCR and AI Metadata launched on July 18, 2023 with 5 votes, #1,978 of 4,347 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 3 years on.

What it does

Open-source document management platform leveraging AWS managed services. RESTful API for document storage, processing, full-text search, and metadata management. Multi-tenant serverless architecture with auto-scaling... deployed entirely in your AWS account. - formkiq/formkiq-core

    We built a FOSS documentation CMS with a pretty GUI2024 · kalmia.difuse.io · ▲165

Kalmia started as a small hobby project about two months ago, but it quickly evolved when we needed a better solution to manage our office's documentation. It has now become our go-to tool for both internal and user-facing docs. Recently, we decided to open source it, as we believe others might benefit from a lightweight, customizable documentation system like this. We're excited to see how the community can take it further, contribute, and adapt it to their own needs!

  • Typeform was too expensive so I built my own forms2025 · ikiform.com · ▲190

Hey HN, I'm a solopreneur and run a web design agency. I create open-source apps, but I also work as a freelancer and designer. I was accepting any new freelance project via forms on my agency website. I was using Typeform, but as time went by and more people submitted forms, it got more and more expensive. That time, I thought to use Google Form, but it was way too blocky and looked very unprofessional on my agency website. So I thought to build my own forms for my own usage, and it turns out it almost doubled form submissions and inquiry calls. I was happy, so I thought to build it for…

I saw this [0] pretty cool thread by user revskill, and wanted a quicker way to search through it, but also to keep them all in one place so I can read them at my leisure whenever I get time. Right now is like 60 lines of Ruby using Nokogiri, but I will certainly look into it further down the line and improve the list. There's a cronjob checking the thread every 12 hours but I will eventually shut that down and it will become static after that. There are some really awesome blogs in there. I really recommend going through the list, it made my day. [0] "Could you share your personal blog…
