Bitemap

I know the internet likes to celebrate perfect bites and debate where to take the next bite of half-finished sandwiches. So I built Bitemap. You see a photo of a sandwich, you tap where you'd take your next bite, and it shows a heatmap of where everyone else bit. It's early. Most of the sandwiches are ones I uploaded to seed it and the maps are still filling in, so some are thin. You can add your own too. No signup, nothing to install. Curious what you think, and where you'd bite. Happy to answer anything about how it's built.

Bitemap launched on May 29, 2026 with 3 votes, #3,449 of 20,538 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches.

What it does

The idea is simple enough: see a photo of a sandwich, plot your next bite, then see a heat map where others would take their bites to see if you're a "bite normie" or a "bite outlier."

Tap where you'd bite this peanut butter and jelly. See where everyone else bites too.

I built an app that uses math to find restaurants nearby the sweet spot2025 · settld.space · ▲7

I recently built an iOS app called Settld: Group Restaurant Finder that helps friends decide where to meet by finding restaurants that are roughly equally far from everyone’s location, and displaying information about them. We’ve all been in chaotic group chats where no one can agree on where to eat — this app cuts through that by calculating a “sweet spot” for the group. For 2 people, it’s the midpoint. For 3 people, it’s the circumcenter. For 4–6 people, it uses a minimum enclosing circle approach (Welzl’s algorithm). It then shows the top 15 nearby options so there’s no more “where do we…

  • Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
