Bleuit – A Recursive Reddit

Hi, I wanted to make a social media website that did things a little differently. I'd describe it like something between reddit and Hacker News, but with a different approach to browsing and submitting content. I learned nextjs in the process of this so it is pretty plain and simple. However if there's interest I might spend more time on it. Thanks for checking it out! See here for more on how it works - https://bleuit.io/about

Bleuit – A Recursive Reddit launched on September 15, 2023 with 9 votes, #1,515 of 4,228 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 3 years on.

  • Non.io, a Reddit-like platform Ive been working on for the last 4 years2023 · non.io · ▲1,943

Heya HN, I've been working on a reddit-like platform as my primary side project for the last few years. Doing a (very) soft launch today, mainly because I want to use it to encourage discussion of alternatives. How non.io works: 1. Free to browse, paid to interact. 2. Minimum subscription is $2 (though you can choose more). I take $1 to run the servers, everything left gets split evenly between everything you upvote that month. It's a simple model, but I hope it's a better one than the freemium model we've been relying on for the last few years. Fundamentally I feel like any ad-supported…

  • Discuit – A Reddit alternative with a clean UI and a sensible vision2023 · discuit.net · ▲53

Hi HN, this is a platform (Discuit, pronounced "diskette") I've been working on for about two years. I initially built it for a niche demographic (my native country). But now with Reddit going dark and people looking for a new place to migrate to, I'm doing a quick launch today. A few quick things: 1. I don't believe federated platforms will ever become mainstream. They have a whole host of problems, not the least of which is that they're too complicated for most people to use. This platform is not, therefore, federated. 2. I don't know what the best way of monetizing a thing like this is. I…

    I Built a Reddit-style Bluesky client – still rough, but open to ideas2025 · threadsky.app · ▲127

I’ve been messing around with Bluesky for a while, and one thing I really missed was a proper way to browse discussions in a structured, Reddit-like way specially myself being daily reddit user. So, I ended up building a Reddit-like client for Bluesky that scratches that itch: Threadsky.app It pulls in trending topics, lets you explore conversations with a threaded view (so no more getting lost in replies), and even allows users to create channels with customizations, basically, like subreddits but on Bluesky. That said, this is still pretty barebones, and there’s a lot to improve. I really…

    A Drip of JavaScript2013 · designpepper.com · ▲31

Over the past couple of years, I've been very impressed by Kale Davis's Hacker Newsletter and Peter Cooper's entire newsletter empire. They're clearly meeting people's need to stay caught up on industry news without spending their entire lives watching HN and Twitter. Their success has inspired me to try something similar. So I've just begun publishing a JS newsletter called "A Drip of JavaScript." Rather than focus on the latest JS news (which JavaScript Weekly already does rather well), each issue is just a short article about some aspect of programming in JavaScript. The newsletter is…

    Squabblr – A Twitter/Reddit hybrid platform2023 · squabblr.co · ▲24

Hey guys, I made a post about this about a week ago and was told to create a Show HN post. So here we are! Squabblr is a hybrid that takes Twitter style posting and combines it with Reddit style commenting. It came up from a personal want where I liked using Twitter to see what people I'm interested in are up to, but found that the reply system left a lot to be desired. It's very hard to have or follow conversations with their UI. While Reddit provided a great commenting system but didn't support following people very well (or had much usage of it at all). So I decided to create Squabblr.…
