Bogrep – Grep Your Bookmarks

Occasionally, I need full-text search on my bookmarks to find a specific bookmark I added some time ago. Usually, browsers only support search of bookmarks in the website's title tag which is often not sufficient to find a bookmark. Some browsers, like Safari, provide built-in support for full-text search, but can only be used for content that's already in the browser's history. Bogrep imports your bookmarks from multiple browsers (removing duplicates), and then downloads and caches them in plaintext (without images or videos). These cached bookmarks are subsequently used for full-text search.

Bogrep – Grep Your Bookmarks launched on November 5, 2023 with 29 votes, #1,219 of 4,333 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 2 years on.

In plain words

Bogrep is a tool that enables full-text search across bookmarks from multiple browsers. It imports bookmarks while removing duplicates, then downloads and caches the page content as plaintext to make bookmarks searchable by their actual content rather than just titles. This is designed for users who need to locate specific bookmarks they saved previously but cannot remember the website title.

Hi HN, I’m Kashish, one of the co-founders of SpeedVitals, a platform for testing & monitoring website performance with a major emphasis on Core Web Vitals. Until now, our platform has only focused on Synthetic/Lab testing, such as Lighthouse tests and TTFB tests. But now, we have developed a Real-User Monitoring platform that doubles up as a Web Analytics tool. One major feature we have that most RUM tools lack is Performance Audits. Just like Lighthouse audits work on Lab test data, our audits work across all the real-user visits and gives suggestions on what task to prioritize first.…
