In plain words

This Emacs tool lets developers browse GitHub repositories directly within Emacs without cloning them locally. Users can press the standard find-file command and enter a GitHub URL instead of a file path, then navigate the repository contents using Dired (Emacs's file manager). It streamlines quick repository exploration for developers working in Emacs.

El Remoto - browse any GitHub repository in Emacs just like any local - without cloning. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to C-x C-f and just browse any GitHub repo? remoto.el registers a virtual filesystem via file-name-handler-alist that translates standard Emacs file operations into GitHub API calls via the ghub library. The result: find-file , dired , tab-completion, dired-subtree - all standard Emacs file tooling works against a remote GitHub repo. Read-only. It was demoed at Emacs ATX Meetup of July 2026. Here’s the video . Link to the complete video of that meetup (~2 hrs) is in the description. Sometimes you just want to look at code. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

 • With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
