BrowserCode – Run Claude Code in the Browser via WebAssembly

We built BrowserCode, a FOSS web app to run TUI agents (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, others coming soon) fully in the browser, locally. To use BrowserCode, you'll need to login to each CLI with the corresponding login, i.e. with your Anthropic account or API key. All the data and execution stays completely local to the browser and it's persistent across sessions thanks to a disk backend based on the Origin Private File System API or IndexedDB. This is running the unmodified Claude Code (and Gemini CLI) command-line tool in browser using BrowserPod (https://browserpod.io), a…

What it does

Run AI Agent CLIs in your browser. Contribute to leaningtech/browsercode development by creating an account on GitHub.

BrowserCode is a browser-based playground for fast-prototyping full-stack apps and sharing them instantly. It runs on BrowserPod, a multi-language WebAssembly sandbox (Node.js, Rust, and Python in preview), with no installs, no servers, and no cloud compute. BrowserCode is a browser-based coding sandbox. It's a working example of BrowserPod , and includes: BrowserCode started out as a way to run AI coding CLIs entirely client-side. It's since grown into a full IDE: alongside the CLIs, it can boot and preview web frameworks directly in the browser, so you can prototype an agent's output without ever leaving the tab. BrowserCode 1.1.0 is our latest beta release. It runs a full code editor,…from github.com

Hello HN, we are thrilled to share with you in preview BrowserCode: A FOSS web app to run TUI agents (such as Claude Code, OpenCode, Gemini CLI and the like) fully in the browser. This first release focuses on Gemini CLI and Claude Code will follow soon. BrowserCode is released under the Apache License, version 2.0. BrowserCode is based on BrowserPod (https://browserpod.io), an in-browser WebAssembly-based code sandboxing technology that can currently run Node.js, python, git, bash and many other command line tools. This will further expand to Ruby / Rails, Go, Rust and…

As I started to use Claude Code to do more random tasks I realized I could basically build any CLI tool and it would use it. So I built one that controls the browser and open-sourced it. It should work with Codex or any other CLI-based agent! I have a long term idea where the models are all local and then the tool is privacy preserving because it's easy to remove PII from text, but I'd definitely not recommend using this for anything important just yet. You'll need a Gemini key until I (or someone else) figure out how to distill a local version out of that part of the pipeline. Github link:…

Just to clarify the background a bit. This project wasn’t planned as a big standalone release at first. On January 16, Ollama added support for an Anthropic-compatible API, and I was curious how far this could be pushed in practice. I decided to try plugging local Ollama models directly into a Claude Code-style workflow and see if it would actually work end to end. Here is the release note from Ollama that made this possible: https://ollama.com/blog/claude Technically, what I do is pretty straightforward: - Detect which local models are available in Ollama. - When…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
