Cache & Cook

What to cook with what's already in your fridge

Cache & Cook launched on June 10, 2026 with 2 votes.

What it does

I kept opening the fridge at 6pm with no clue what to make or couldn't figure out what to cook for the week, so I built this. Tell Cache & Cook what you've got and how much time you have, and it writes you a real recipe. Save the ones you like and they stay organized in a pantry. Free to start, no card.

Your recipes, plus a sous chef who actually pays attention. Save from anywhere, draft new ideas from what's on the shelf.

Cache & Cook takes whatever you've got (half an onion, some chicken, 20 minutes) and gives you a real recipe you can cook tonight. Save the ones you love. Tell the sous chef what you want. It drafts a recipe in seconds. You decide — cook it tonight, save it to your pantry, or ask for another draft. Tell the sous chef what you've got, how long you have, what you feel like. "Something warming, 30 minutes, one pot." That's the whole input. The sous chef drafts a recipe — ingredients, method, timings — printed cleanly on the page. Read it, edit it, do whatever you want with it. Like it? Cook it tonight, save it to your pantry, or both. Saved recipes are kept as proper recipe cards you can pull…from cacheandcook.com

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

  • Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
