No account. No login. BYOK (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Ollama). How it's different from Cursor/Continue/Windsurf/Antigravity: Your API keys stay local. Free AI-powered desktop apps for developers and data scientists. No account, no login, no subscription. Calliope AI IDE: VSCode-based with AI chat, autonomous agents, and live coding. Calliope AI Lab: JupyterLab with built-in AI assistant and local Postgres. Bring your own API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Ollama). Hi HN, I built this out of frustration of the evergrowing list of AI models and features to try and to fit my workflow. The visual approach clicks for me so i went with it, it provides more freedom and control of the outcome, because predictable results and increased productivity is what I’m after when using conversational AI. The app is packed with features, my most used are prompt library, voice input and text search, narration is useful too. The app is local-first and works right in the browser, no sign up needed and it's absolutely free to try. BYOAK – bring your own API Keys. Let me…
Budibase 2.02022 · budibase.com · ▲381Hi there, Mike here from Budibase. We’ve recently launched AI Agents into Beta, alongside our existing open-source app-building and automation tools. We built Budibase Agents for teams that want to leverage AI within real-world workflows, using their own LLMs, data, and APIs. Because of this, our Agents can be powered by any LLM with an OpenAI-compatible API, including open-source and locally-hosted models. This means you can build Agents that connect to your existing toolstack, within your own environment. Some more details: - Agents' behavior is configured using natural language…

Onit – Source-available ChatGPT Desktop with local mode, Claude, Gemini2025 · github.com · ▲174Hey Hackernews- it’s Tim Lenardo and I’m launching v1 of Onit today! Onit is ChatGPT Desktop, but with local mode and support for other model providers (Anthropic, GoogleAI, etc). It's also like Cursor Chat, but everywhere on your computer - not just in your IDE! Onit is open-source! You can download a pre-built version from our website: www.getonit.ai Or build directly from the source code: https://github.com/synth-inc/onit We built this because we believe: Universal Access: AI assistants should be accessible from anywhere on my computer, not just in the browser or in…
Dropstone 3Feb 2026 · dropstone.io · ▲206I’ve been trying out Dropstone, a new IDE with a self-learning AI that actually adapts to how you code. Unlike Cursor or Claude, it runs locally, has no token limits, and gets better the more you use it. What impressed me is that it learns from your edits and naming patterns while keeping everything private on your own system. It even explains its reasoning for every suggestion and has quick undo and fallback options that keep you in flow. It genuinely feels like coding with an assistant that remembers you.

Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…
