Cesium.js

An open-source JavaScript library for world-class 3D globes

Cesium.js launched on May 25, 2016 with 6 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 10 years on.

What it does

The Cesium platform provides the foundations any software application needs to use 3D geospatial data: visualization, data pipelines, curated data, and analytics. Based on open standards for data formats and open APIs for customization and integration—and built with an open source core—Cesium is open, interoperable, and incredibly precise.

Cesium is the open platform for software applications designed to unleash the power of 3D data. Today, we're excited to share our second major technology preview focused on design model workflows in Cesium. In June, we introduced direct Cesium ion tiling support for widely used design formats, along with the Asset Elements API for querying model metadata. Now, we are expanding what you can do with design models after they are in Cesium, from keeping models current and identifying changes between versions to precise snapping, improved clipping and insets, georeferencing, and improvements to design model 3D tileset streaming and rendering. Philadelphia has always been a city that builds. Now,…from cesium.com
