What it does
Cineaste is for people who feel films, not just watch them. It maps your cinema taste across 24 emotional dimensions Nocturnal, Melancholic, Neon Noir, Liminal and more and builds a personal mood profile from everything you log. No rankings, no popularity scores. Just films matched to how you actually feel.
Cineaste maps your cinema taste across 24 emotional dimensions. Log films, track what you watch, and discover what you'll love next — a Letterboxd alternative built for people who feel films, not just watch them.
Not genre. Not ratings. Your taste mapped across 24 emotional dimensions — and matched to every film ever made. Other apps treat films as items in a catalogue . You rate them out of five and stack the numbers. The numbers don't say much. Cineaste treats films as rooms you walked through . We map them across 24 dimensions of feeling — atmosphere, emotion, image — and over time, we draw a shape called your DNA . Your profile is public by default so others can find you — but every detail is yours to control. When you choose to compare, the people who match — really match — find you back. Taste twins, not algorithm twins. A film, a star count, a sentence on what stayed with you. That's it. No…from cineaste.cc

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
