What it does
Claude Code is powerful but invisible — you watch terminal output and guess what's happening to your files. Claude Companion runs alongside it and shows the session live: a mascot that reacts to processing/done/error states, a feed of every file read and edit made, real-time stats, and contextual nudges when context is growing or it's time to run tests. Ships three ways: VS Code extension, npm CLI, and a macOS menu-bar app. Local-first — code and prompts never leave your machine.

Live sidebar panel for Claude Code — an animated mascot, tool activity feed, session stats, and contextual suggestions. Available as a VS Code extension, a macOS menu-bar corner anchor, and a CLI. Status: pre-1.0. Core features stable; some features (e.g. Apple notarization, VS Code Marketplace publish, public relay) are still being prepared for public release. To remove everything later: claude-companion uninstall (or uninstall --purge to also wipe local stat history). Marketplace publish is in progress. For now you can sideload from a locally-built .vsix : cd claude-companion npm install && npm run compile npx vsce package code --install-extension claude-companion-*.vsix Privacy Runs…from marketplace.visualstudio.com

ClaudebinFeb 2026 · claudebin.com · ▲258Hi HN, We use Claude Code a lot, and after a long session there isn't a simple way to share exactly what happened with someone else. Prompts, responses, file edits, and tool calls all stay inside the terminal. We built Claudebin to make that easier. It's a plugin that lets you export the current session as a URL containing: - the full message thread - file reads and writes - bash commands - web and MCP calls You can send the link to someone, attach it to a PR, embed part of it, or resume the session locally. It's open source. GitHub:…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
