I never write reviews, but this is needed because this app is amazing. First, it is free for students which I APPRECIATE SO MUCH. Not a discount off a subscription, but FREE. The creators are so generous. I nearly shed a tear at the quote on the redeem screen. Second, the exercise feature drastically dropped my scroll time. Its so much more stricter than Opals “wait for x seconds.” It actually blocks screentime and its hard to bypass (especially since the challenge feature makes you feel bad for breaking the streak) unlike other apps that barely do anything and only works if you buy the subscription. My only wish is 1, have a more detailed screentime tracker (mine is currently not showing…from apps.apple.com

iOS Screen Time from a REST API2025 · thescreentimenetwork.com · ▲106We're Oliver and Royce and we're the founders of Clearspace. We build tools to help people reduce their screen time (here’s us two years ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35888644) We get all kinds of requests from users for ways they'd like to use their screen time data. - “Auto-donate $x to charity every time I exceed a limit or try to bypass it” - “My 75 Hard group has a screen time requirement, can we set up group visibility?” - “Let my personal agent know if it’s a good time to tackle things on my todo list” - “Auto-report large deviations in my screen time to my…

ScreenBreakDec 2025 · screenbreak.app · ▲125Hi HN, I built ScreenBreak after realizing that most app blockers failed in practice. “Hard blocks” were too rigid — I either locked myself out entirely or tapped Ignore Limit and kept scrolling. There was no useful middle state. In reality, people still need to open apps like TikTok or Instagram for specific tasks: looking something up, replying to someone, checking updates, etc. The problem isn’t intentional use; it’s the unplanned, unconscious scrolling that follows. I wanted a system that interrupts the impulse without fully preventing access. ScreenBreak uses soft blocking plus…

I'm a big fan of the BBC podcast In Our Time -- and (like most people) I've been playing with the OpenAI APIs. In Our Time has almost 1,000 episodes on everything from Cleopatra to the evolution of teeth to plasma physics, all still available, so it's my starting point to learn about most topics. But it's not well organised. So here are the episodes sorted by library code. It's fun to explore. Web scraping is usually pretty tedious, but I found that I could send the minimised HTML to GPT-3 and get (almost) perfect JSON back: the prompt includes the Typescript definition. At the same time I…
