In plain words

Hack Playground is a virtual world platform that recreates the experience of HackMIT, a large undergraduate hackathon, for remote participants. It enables hackers to network with sponsors through scheduled coffee chats, explore a Nonprofit Village for inspiration, and communicate with other attendees. The platform also includes appReader, an application management system that handles HackMIT's thousands of annual submissions by distributing applications to reviewers, tracking scores, and automating the admissions process.

From the sources

Hack Playground is a virtual world that brings HackMIT, one of the largest undergraduate hackathons, right to your home. Playground preserves the atmosphere of innovation and connection of a hackathon. You can walk through the Sponsor Town and schedule a coffee chat with a sponsor, gain inspiration by visiting the Nonprofit Village, or chat with other hackers. We use appreader to manage the thousands of applications we receive for HackMIT each year. The website streamlines the admissions process by distributing apps to team members, keeping track of applications scores, and running a scoring algorithm to generate a final list of admitted applicants. The open source version will be coming…from code.hackmit.org

We build AI agents to find vulnerabilities in other AI agents. The playground started as an internal tool that we used to test our own offensive agent Nyx. But we realised that hacking an AI is about have as wide a distribution of attacks as possible, especially those which aren't in the distribution of the models. So we are launching playground as a platform to crowdsource agent jailbreaks. And although hacking AI is super fun and we are sure people will do it for free, we want to reward those who help us push forward the offensive frontier of AI. So we are committing $100K in prizes over…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
