Codebase visualizer (I'll build the diagram for the first 20 repos)2025 · pie-crepe-38f.notion.site · ▲8I worked as a software engineer at Amazon, SAP, and on open source. In all 3 places I have struggled with the friction of understanding codebases before I can make a contribution. I think this brain-fatiguing process can be improved. I am trying to solve it with a tool I built over the last 4 years called CodeCanvas: https://docs.code-canvas.com CodeCanvas visualizes codebases through interactive diagrams linked directly to source code. Users can record 'simulations' to demonstrate data flow and business logic. I’ve also recently added an LLM chat where it takes only the relevant…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

- TITetris in a PDF▲1,289
I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

21st.dev▲1,211I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
