Compare Tool

Two files. One truth.

What it does

CompareTool finds every difference in seconds; mismatched values, missing records, duplicate IDs field by field, with the numbers to back it up. Drop in your files. Pick your ID column. Hit compare. That's it. No formulas. No VLOOKUP. Runs in your browser — your data never touches a server. Works offline too. Catches: value changes, missing or new records, duplicate IDs, column mismatches, numeric and date deltas. Doesn't: send your data anywhere, require a login, or cost anything.

    Comparelists.org – Instantly Compare Two Lists, Find Differences2025 · comparelists.org · ▲10

Hey HN, I got tired of manually comparing two lists (think: emails, product SKUs, code, whatever) and built CompareLists.org to make it painless. You just paste your two lists, hit compare, and instantly see what’s unique to each list, what matches, and any duplicates. It handles thousands of lines, works right in your browser (no data leaves your device), and you can export results as CSV/TXT/JSON. There are options for case sensitivity, whitespace, and more. It’s free and there’s no signup. I’d love for you to try it out and let me know what you think—or if there’s a feature you…

Data Diff – compare tables of any size across databases2022 · ▲127

Gleb, Alex, Erez and Simon here – we are building an open-source tool for comparing data within and across databases at any scale. The repo is at https://github.com/datafold/data-diff, and our home page is https://datafold.com/. As a company, Datafold builds tools for data engineers to automate the most tedious and error-prone tasks falling through the cracks of the modern data stack, such as data testing and lineage. We launched two years ago with a tool for regression-testing changes to ETL code…

    Google Sheets add-on to compare text, fuzzy-match, highlight duplicates2020 · ▲80

I created an add-on for Google Sheets called Flookup, and it comes both as a free version and a VERY AFFORDABLE paid version. At its core, Flookup is a fuzzy matching add-on that helps you manage text that is less than a 100% match. Beyond that it can be used to: 1. Search for and match data regardless of whether it contains typos. 2. Highlight and delete duplicates duplicates even if the data has mismatched text. 3. Calculate the percentage similarity between strings. 4. Extract unique values from any column based on percentage similarity. 5. Sum and find the average of numbers based on…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
