Countries where you can leave your MacBook at a random coffee shop
Hi HN, I wanted to know which countries you can simply leave your laptop at a Starbucks, and where you can't. Feel free to click and vote.
In plain words
This interactive map lets users identify countries where it's safe to leave a laptop unattended in public coffee shops versus where theft is a significant concern. Travelers and remote workers can explore and vote on safety levels across different locations, helping build a crowdsourced guide to laptop security by country. The tool aggregates community input to highlight which destinations have reliable enough public environments for unattended device use.

- AMA map that tells you if a NYC cafe has WiFi, a restroom, and an outlet2023 · octobrain.one · ▲131
I am slowly adding more locations now. This is intended to be a crowdsourced map. Everyone is welcome to add more locations and provide comments/votes here. Free people from going to a cafe for work only to leave because there's no wifi, restroom, or outlet!! Demo: https://x.com/KSeisai/status/1708273554041504028?s=20

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
