What it does
With Crates you can import from Spotify, Discogs, Bandcamp, YouTube and more, organize files with artwork and metadata, sync mobile and discover exciting new music through user shared Gems, not algorithms. Own your data and enjoy your music collection forever!
Crates is a user-focused music app, that enables users to have all their music under one app and discover exciting new gems vouched by the community.
Enjoy all your precious music files and online collections under one app, the way you want it! Bring them all together under one hood — search, rate, tag, create playlists, and keep forever! We all love beautiful design and a seamless user experience, but who has time to manually tag and polish all their music? Crates does the heavy lifting for you, automatically fetching artwork, genres, release details, artist and label information from Discogs and other sources. It also calculates BPM, key and waveforms, delivering a stunning and customizable visual experience across all your devices. Crates lets you sync your entire library to your mobile with just a few clicks! Save space by…from crates.app

The site hit #1 on HN about a year ago. Got enough traffic that I turned it into a proper API. What's there: - REST API — 35k products, manually filterable by category, free key, 60 req/min - CLI — npx anycrap random -c food - faker.js plugin — bundled, no API call, works offline - HuggingFace dataset — full 35k rows for ML/training https://anycrap.shop/developers

If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

By the end of 2024, as AI coding tools exploded everywhere, I finally had a way to make it real. I started from zero knowledge and spent months collaborating with AI agents as a learning experience. Every pixel and every function went through me. The AI translated what I asked for into code, but every decision was human. I didn't use existing OS…
