crossword.training

The missing practice mode for crosswords

What it does

Crosswords aren't really about vocabulary or being smart. They're about understanding what clues are asking you to do, and that's a learnable skill. crossword.training drills it directly: one clue at a time, with difficulty that scales from Monday-easy to Saturday-tough. Four right in a row moves you up a day, three wrong drops you back. No timer, no lose state, no points. End a session whenever.

Hey there! I'm the brains behind the math crossword game on my site. This game is all about making math a little more fun – users just drag and drop numbers to fill in the blanks and move on to the next level if they get it right. Let me know if face any issues or have any suggestions! :)

I'm not trying to claim that these could appear in, say, the NYT in their current state, but honestly the velocity of progress makes me feel like I will inevitably be able to automatically generate NYT-quality crosswords within just a year or so. A write-up is here: https://abstractnonsense.com/crosswords.html And you can play the crosswords here:…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
