AI Coach: Think through what matters and commit with clarity
Crux launched on May 5, 2026 with 3 votes, #3,449 of 20,538 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches.
What it does
Crux is an AI decision coach for adults navigating complex choices. Unlike chatbots that tell you what to do, Crux draws out your thinking and then challenges it. Two modes: Crux - a structured coaching session (20-30 min) that maps options, stress-tests assumptions, and then helps you commit. Or Quick Crux — five sharp questions, ten minutes, real clarity. Built during a period of high-stakes personal decision-making. Grounded in research from Kahneman, Heath, and Klein. Free at launch.
For adults navigating real choices. Crux is an AI decision coach that draws out your thinking, challenges your assumptions, and delivers clarity.
Crux is an AI decision coach built for adults navigating real choices. It helps you think through complex decisions with rigour, honesty, and a clear framework. Chatbots give answers. Crux helps you think. Where a general AI will happily tell you what to do, Crux uses a structured five-stage framework to draw out your own thinking, challenge your assumptions, and surface the trade-offs you're actually weighing. Your thinking comes first. Crux draws out what you already know before offering anything new. Relationships, money, career, family. Crux handles the trade-offs other apps avoid. Your decisions stay on your device. No ads, no tracking, no data sales. Crux draws on decades of research…from cruxapp.io

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
