CSS Color Extractor

Grab Website Colors!

CSS Color Extractor launched on February 6, 2020 with 11 votes, #790 of 3,162 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 6 years on.

What it does

CSS Color Extractor is a free online color tool allowing you to check what colors are used in a CSS file, and how many times they have been used! A free online tool to extract colors from CSS files. Built for modern CSS, it works with hex, rgb and rgba.

Paste CSS or give a stylesheet URL and get every colour in it: hex, rgb, hsl, named and oklch, counted, merged when they are the same colour, and flagged when two of them are too close to tell apart.

Paste a stylesheet, drop a .css file on it, or hand over the address of one. Every colour in it comes back counted, with the same colour written four different ways collapsed into a single row. One row per colour, however it was written. The badges under each hex say which notations the file used for it, which is usually the first sign that a palette has been maintained by more than one person. Nothing read yet. Paste a stylesheet above and press Extract colors . That was the warm up. Thirty puzzles like it, one number at the end: your score on Official IQ Test. Every pair below sits under the threshold where a normal eye stops seeing a difference. They are almost never on purpose: they are…from hexcolor.co

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
