Demo.fun – A browser extension for recording beautiful product demos
Hi Hacker News! I’m super excited and proud to announce the launch of https://www.demo.fun - a Browser Extension for recording and editing web-based product demos. Product demos are a passion of mine, and demo.fun is a passion project. My goal was to build a product that would effectively help me sell the product itself. Getting the demo of the editor on the front-page of my site was a huge milestone. If you’ve ever used my main competitor Arcade, you’ll absolutely love demo.fun. To start, demo.fun offers a non-linear editing environment where you can edit your demos and play them…
What it does
In the maker’s words, at launch
Hi Hacker News! I’m super excited and proud to announce the launch of https://www.demo.fun - a Browser Extension for recording and editing web-based product demos. Product demos are a passion of mine, and demo.fun is a passion project. My goal was to build a product that would effectively help me sell the product itself. Getting the demo of the editor on the front-page of my site was a huge milestone. If you’ve ever used my main competitor Arcade, you’ll absolutely love demo.fun. To start, demo.fun offers a non-linear editing environment where you can edit your demos and play them back in real-time without having to switch between editing and preview modes. And that’s where the “fun” comes in. With my app, you can add pan and zoom animations, animated popovers, and synthetic voiceovers and preview them in real-time, fluidly. It’s a magical experience, and I think you’ll all agree when you try. It really is a lot of fun, and I’m super proud of that. Secondly, theirs is expensive. They have more mouths to feed than I do (and they also have more features right now), so I get it—but it’s still expensive. I can operate my product much cheaper, and it’s bootstrapped, no venture capital. Both of our apps capture clicks and draw animated graphics over them, but their app seems to have been constructed with the click being the primary event everything else is built around. Their demos, to me, seem more like presentations where clicks demarcate new slides. My app treats clicks like any other events: animations, cuts, zooms, pans, speed ups, etc. That leaves a ton of room for feature expansion. I have a ton of features in mind and directions I want to go with this. I plan on working on it for the foreseeable future, and just becoming an expert in all aspects of product demonstrations. I love software, I love showing software off, and I can’t think of a better way to spend my time than dogfooding this product to success. Try it now to see the difference yourself! https://www.demo.fun https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/demofun/oadbjpccljk... to download the extension (The video on the Chrome extension page is from an MVP and doesn’t represent the current product—I need to change it). Thank you HN!

hi all, I've always wanted to make my own game, but couldn't afford a thousand-dollar adobe (flash+photoshop) license. I'm not a talented programmer, have no degree in CS. But I understand some elements of design. So I got me a copy of ImpactJS, and after about 5 months of steep learning curve (at least for me), I managed to come up with a game. I also integrated it with a highscore and badge system, similar to what you get at Kongregate. You need to login with Google/OpenID to earn badges/scores. link is: http://www.hotbazooka.com/privatejoe hope to hear some feedback/questions from you guys!

Hello HN. This is a project me and some friends built at university in 2017. It was originally built in a rush, but we've added a few improvements over the years. It's a fun game to host at a demoparty and project on a big screen - We did that at Instanssi many times. The implementation is still rough, and suffers from the fast pace of the modern web - The frontend is likely very outdated, and the backend is built with Vapor 2 and Swift 3.1, both no longer supported. You can host this yourself, but it might be a bit of a pain to set up. The WebSocket protocol is fairly trivial to work out…
