In plain words

Kazuho's Weblog is a personal blog that discusses web technology topics, including an analysis of HTTP/2's stream prioritization methods compared to SPDY. The post examines how dependency-based prioritization in HTTP/2 differs from weight-based approaches and explores performance implications for browser load times. The blog serves as a technical resource for developers interested in web protocol optimization.

Slight correction. SPDY priorities were similar to dependencies in that higher priority streams were to be delivered before lower priority streams ( https://www.chromium.org/spdy/spdy-protocol/spdy-protocol-draft3#TOC-2.3.3-Stream-priority ). It was only in HTTP/2 that the priorities became weights. Thank you for the correction. I had thought that the priorities in SPDY is weight-based since in Chrome they are mapped to weights of HTTP/2. If that is the case, is my understanding correct that Chrome actually becomes slower by switching from SPDY to HTTP/2 in terms of first-paint time, in case of viewing a web-site like the one explained on this blogpost? Correct, at least until Chrome moves…from blog.kazuhooku.com

A few months ago, I benchmarked FastAPI on an i9 MacBook Pro. I couldn't believe my eyes. A primary REST endpoint to `sum` two integers took 6 milliseconds to evaluate. It is okay if you are targeting a server in another city, but it should be less when your client and server apps are running on the same machine. FastAPI would have bottleneck-ed the inference of our lightweight UForm neural networks recently trending on HN under the title "Beating OpenAI CLIP with 100x less data and compute". (Thank you all for the kind words!) So I wrote another library. It has been a while since I have…

tl;dr we built an embeddable stream processing engine in Rust using apache DataFusion, check us out at https://github.com/probably-nothing-labs/denormalized Hey HN, We’d like to showcase a very early version of our embeddable stream processing engine called Denormalized. The rise of DuckDB has abundantly made it clear that even for many workloads of Terabyte scale, a single node system outshines the distributed query engines of previous generation such as Spark, Snowflake etc in terms of both performance and cost. Now a lot of workloads DuckDB is used for were normally…
