Hey hn, this has been something I've been working on for the last few months and is finally robust enough to really show off. I've been pretty tired with the design outputs of LLMs for a while, and I've always thought diffusion offered much more creative / on brand design outputs, even before they were able to render text. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano.
