Deta Surf
Hi HN! We got frustrated with the fragmented experience of exploring & creating across our file manager, the web and document apps. Lots of manual searching, opening windows & tabs, scrolling, and ultimately copying & pasting into a document editor. Surf is a desktop app meant for simultaneous research and thinking to minimize the grunt work. From the sources
Surf puts you at the center of your digital life. It's a browser, file manager, and AI assistant — all in one.
Elevate your internet.
Surf is an intelligent notebook that brings your files and the web directly into your stream of thought. As a way to actually make sense of ... research you do around [your browser tabs], there’s nothing else like it. Its main selling point is AI (I know, I know, bear with me), but in a way that actually makes sense. Make sense of hours of YouTube, hundred-page PDFs, foreign languages and scientific diagrams. Notebooks to collect websites, images, files, notes and more. Your data is stored on your device. Import, export, and manage it as you see fit. Integrate with LLMs of your choice, bring your own key, or run local LLMs. Explore the web, your favorite YouTube videos, and your PDFs…from deta.surf
