DevSwarm, run multiple AI coding assistants in parallel

We wanted to run multiple AI coding assistants in parallel and swap models easily (Claude Code, local, Codex, etc.) without messing with the current branch. DevSwarm is a mac/windows desktop app that runs assistants on separate git branches so you can stay in the loop and compare/merge safely. Not an IDE, an Augmented Development Environment (ADE); open any branch in your IDE with a click. We’ve been dogfooding it for months, including DevSwarm. Try it in minutes: download, open a repo, start two assistants. Free beta.

In plain words

DevSwarm is a desktop application for Mac and Windows that runs multiple AI coding assistants in parallel on separate git branches. Users can easily swap between different models like Claude, local assistants, or Codex without affecting their current work, then compare and merge results safely. Rather than functioning as a traditional IDE, it acts as an Augmented Development Environment that integrates with existing editors, allowing developers to open any branch with a single click. The tool is currently available as a free beta.

DevSwarm runs parallel AI coding agents in isolated workspaces, each with a full IDE, with GitHub and Jira wired in. Download free for Mac and Windows.

Stop juggling AI agents and IDEs. Run and coordinate parallel agents across isolated branches to write, review, and optimize code in one seamless workspace. Each workspace carries its own extensions, its own ports, and its own configuration, so branches never step on each other. Work on a feature, a bugfix, and an experiment at the same time, in one project or across several, each with its own dev server and terminals. It all runs in one interface, and switching branches takes a click. Describe what you want in plain language. DevSwarm plans the work, creates a workspace for each piece, and puts an agent on every one. The agents pass messages, report progress, and hand results back until…from devswarm.ai

I kept running into a structural problem with AI coding tools. You try one agent. It makes changes. You try another. Now you're manually diffing branches and cleaning up experimental commits. The tools are powerful, but the workflow isn’t designed for comparison. So I built Parallel Code. It runs Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI natively (no API wrapper, no feature abstraction), but isolates each agent in: its own terminal its own Git worktree its own feature branch The workflow becomes: Spawn N worktrees Assign one AI agent per worktree Let them implement independently Compare diffs Merge…

Just to clarify the background a bit. This project wasn’t planned as a big standalone release at first. On January 16, Ollama added support for an Anthropic-compatible API, and I was curious how far this could be pushed in practice. I decided to try plugging local Ollama models directly into a Claude Code-style workflow and see if it would actually work end to end. Here is the release note from Ollama that made this possible: https://ollama.com/blog/claude Technically, what I do is pretty straightforward: - Detect which local models are available in Ollama. - When…

DevSwarm 2.0, fix parallel Claude Code sprawlFeb 2026 · ▲7

Mike, cofounder of DevSwarm here. I’ve been using Claude Code heavily for the last few months (multiple Max plans). Running sessions in parallel across git branches or worktrees is fast, but it breaks down quickly in practice because of sprawl. Terminals everywhere, editor windows everywhere, and you lose track of basics like which agent is on which branch and what is ready for review. DevSwarm is what we built to solve that. The core abstraction is simple: workspace equals branch. Each workspace runs its agent session(s) and keeps the state visible. In 2.0 we added a full VS Code IDE…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • I made a built-from scratch Wayland Compositor to display any GUI app* in the terminal! I think there is a lot of unexplored potential in custom Wayland compositors, a lot of really cool things you can embed existing applications into! So, I started with embedding apps into the terminal because that is the easiest input/output (output is just utf-8 and I use the great `chafa` library for that, and I just read from stdin for the input). If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

Years ago I stumbled across a basic version of this concept and it stuck with me. I knew if I was ever going to take on such a project, it would need to be flawless, but without coding experience it was just another idea that would never happen. By the end of 2024, as AI coding tools exploded everywhere, I finally had a way to make it real. I started from zero knowledge and spent months collaborating with AI agents as a learning experience. Every pixel and every function went through me. The AI translated what I asked for into code, but every decision was human. I didn't use existing OS…
