Direct by Instagram

In plain words

Direct by Instagram is a standalone messaging app that lets users send private chats with friends from Instagram. Designed for both Android and iOS users, it offers a dedicated space for direct messaging separate from the main Instagram platform. The app is intended for Instagram users who want a focused messaging experience. It launched in limited release, allowing people to communicate privately through a dedicated interface rather than using Instagram's built-in messaging feature.
