What it does
DLEncoder generates AAMVA-compliant PDF417 barcodes — the data on the back of US driver licenses and IDs — for engineering and QA testing. Unlike other tools, it requires no signup and gives full control over every field and jurisdiction subfile. Covers both the v10 and the new v11 (2025 CDS) standards. It also decodes and diagnoses real scans, flagging preamble, CRLF, and length issues. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing uploads. Free.
Free AAMVA encoder for driver license and ID test data — PDF417 barcodes plus Annex F magnetic stripe tracks 1, 2 and 3. Live v10/v11 byte streams with realistic synthetic identities. Runs in your browser; nothing uploads.
AAMVA ® and the DL/ID Card Design Standard are the copyright and trademarks of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators . This tool is an independent implementation provided free of charge for engineering, integration, and QA testing — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by AAMVA. Sponsored by FastBound , the leader in FFL software for A&D Bound Book and 4473 ATF compliance since 2010 . Jurisdictions may add subfiles whose 2-char type begins with Z and whose second letter matches the jurisdiction name (e.g. ZT = Texas LTC, ZV = Virginia). Every element ID inside must share that prefix. Paste a raw barcode payload below, or focus the textarea and scan an AAMVA…from dlencoder.com

It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
