droply

Helps hikers to plan water along their trails and carry less

What it does

Know where the next water is, before your bottle runs out. droply maps springs, fountains, taps and refill stations, with notes from the people who filled up there yesterday. The app exists for longer, but we are just launching a new feature: The water planner along trails. Always see when the next water is upcoming on your hike, know where the dry stretches are and carry less weight through water afterall.

Know where the next water is, before your bottle runs out. droply maps springs, fountains, taps and refill stations, with notes from the people who filled up there yesterday.

Springs, fountains, taps and refill stations, on the trail and in town. With notes from the people who filled up there yesterday. Water can be 20 km apart on some sections. droply shows you where the next one is while you still have a choice. Springs dry up in summer and fountains close for winter. Every water source shows when someone last found water there. Check in at a water source, add a photo, say whether it was running. The people behind you get it, and so do you. Upload your route and see every water source along it, in order, with distances and flow status. droply PRO identifies the dry stretch too, so you carry exactly as much water as you need, not more. • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

 • I made OwnTime to balance between competing priorities in my life. The idea is based on two main influences: the concept of "roles" from "The 5 Choices" (2015), and my repeated failure to effectively implement time blocking due to the necessary flexibility in my role. The app allows you to define time budgets, which are not much more than a few mutually exclusive countdown timers. The UX is essentially that of a chess clock for an arbitrary number of players with configurable time. The whole point of the app is to kick you out of the running role/priority when its time is up. One…
