emcee – connect agents to APIs (via MCP)

Hi! Mattt and I thought it would be cool (and maybe even useful) if you could easily connect Claude to any API. Well, actually we thought it would be cool if we could order pizza and shitpost directly from our AI-powered IDE. So we made emcee. emcee takes a remote (OpenAPI documented) API, generates an MCP server, and exposes the API methods to your agent (or other MCP client) as tools. The easiest way to try it out is with the Claude desktop app (directions on GitHub). We think emcee is actually pretty helpful in a startup/SaaS context as an interface to your internal admin APIs. Hi! Mattt and I thought it would be cool (and maybe even useful) if you could easily connect Claude to any API. It also provides an easy way to connect realtime data to Claude. Let us know what you think!

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…
