Enable Claude to interactively debug your code
I participated in the Nvidia + Vercel 2 hour hackathon in SF tonight, and built something I've wanted, but hadn't tried building. I implemented an MCP Server and VS Code extension to allow Claude Desktop to place breakpoints, step through code, and execute expressions (assuming language support). So you can ask it a question that requires actually stepping through the code and now it can actually do that - check values for you, etc. It's _definitely_ not perfect. Have improvements? Please make a PR!

The main goal of this was to be able to not just run multiple Claude Code sessions at once, but actually manage them and keep track of what I was doing. Sometimes this is multiple attempts on the same task, sometimes I work several tasks at once. Really I was just sick of twiddling my thumbs waiting for the coding agent to finish, and I wanted it to be easy to work on/review/test another change while I waited.

Hola HN! Long time lurker, sometimes commentor, first time poster here. I’ve been working alongside my two co-founders and a few colleagues on a project I’m excited (and a little nervous) to share with you all! Like many of us, I’ve lived a tortured existence with AI coding (is it vibes?) over the past few months - I think November was a big moment with this. But, one thing I’ve noticed after building orchestration layer after orchestration layer is that the thing I always came back to was “what the hell is Claude Code actually doing?” Perhaps it’s because of the time Claude Code got…

Debugging is hard for LLMs, because they primarily depend on source code, and they don't have access to runtime state. I spent countless hours debugging code, and the only way I found LLMs useful for that, is to ask them to add log lines. That's annoying, because it pollutes my code and adds unnecessary diffs. So we made an MCP server that solve this problem. It gives MCP clients (like Claude Code) access to a NodeJS inspector, so they can: 1. set breakpoints 2. step in, step out, continue 3. fetch the current execution location 4. read console output 5. run JS using eval To try: 1. run a…
- AHAI harness for C/C++ with GDB, sanitizers, perf and compile toolsJul 2026 · byteask.ai · ▲5
hey guys, i wanted to show one of my side projects. The idea is a coding harness (independent of models) natively designed for C/C++ developer workflows. I'm a C++ dev and do not find claude code work well with C++ toolchain like gdb and perf. The current version has integrations for gdb, clang-tidy, cppcheck, sanitizers, perf, benchmarking, compile DB navigation, Godbolt, symbolization, binary inspection, and decompilation. It supports Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, and self-hosted models. There are editor workflows for VS Code, CLion, emacs, neovim, and cursor.

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…
