Endless Banger – Algorithmic music generator for you coding sessions
Hi all, I wanted to share `Endless Banger`, a browser-based endless algorithmic music generator. I am a fan of a project from Vitling [1]. I love it as a background music for coding. The interface was a bit complicated and I just wanted a way to Play/Pause the music. So I hacked a simple version of it during the weekend. I'm sure someone may find it useful! You can find the repo here: https://github.com/dspaccapeli/Endless-Banger [1] https://github.com/vitling/acid-banger

An algorithmic audio landscape2024 · ambient.garden · ▲193This is an web audio experiment I've been wanting to do for a long time. Basically an ambient music composition, but all the sound elements are laid out in space, and that musical space can be explored freely. It's definitely inspired by in-world music that sometimes appears in games. I basically took that concept, keeping the music aspect, and dropping the entire "game" aspect. I also turned it into a more "traditional" non-interactive album, but since I started with code, why not program the whole thing? Had a blast making the entire album from code, the complete source for the album is…
Billard – Generate music from ball collisions in 2D space2024 · billard.medusis.com · ▲306Hello HN! Here's Billard. It combines music and physics into a unique creative tool, as I explore various unconventional methods for generating music. Most traditional music composition tools revolve around the idea of a repeatable pattern. Billard is a webapp that never repeats itself. It generates music automatically based on the collisions of balls in a 2D space. Collisions trigger notes (or chords) in a given key. One can add balls or move them (y-position is pitch); the app remembers its state between reloads; or it can be reset with the 'init' button on the top left. Gravity can be…
- FAFree AI-based music demixing in the browser2023 · sevag.xyz · ▲190
Hi all, I've spent some time working on music demixing or music source separation algorithms, which take in a mixed song and output estimates of isolated components (e.g. vocals, drums, bass, other). I took a popular PyTorch model with good performance (Open-Unmix, UMX-L weights), reimplemented the inference steps in C++, and compiled it to WebAssembly for a free client-side music demixer.

Hi HN, Last time I showed free-music-demixer, which people seemed to enjoy. It was a static website with a Javascript + WASM module to perform music demixing (or music source separation) using an AI model UMX-L (Open-Unmix) running client-side in the browser. Since then, I have overhauled the project and made several improvements: - The demixing/separation quality is higher now, since I implemented the missing post-processing step - Memory usage is lower now by performing a custom segmented inference with a streaming LSTM, which should allow larger tracks (or, dare I say,…

Talanoa▲340Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
