Equidistance
I built this after the usual tussle with friends about where to meet. I tried every other meet-in-the-middle app, but they weren’t practical because they relied solely on geographic midpoints. The centre can be a 45-minute trip for one person and a 10-minute trip for another, depending on the route. Equidistance uses the Google Maps Distance Matrix API to test a grid of candidate points and picks the one that minimises the difference in travel times. It then searches for actual venues (cafes, pubs, etc.) near that point and scores them by fairness. It supports public transport, driving and…

What it does
Shows cafes, restaurants and pubs that are equidistant to everyone’s travel times. Supports up to four people.
Equidistance is a free tool that finds meeting points by equal travel time – the spot that’s equally painful for everyone to reach.
Equidistance runs on JavaScript so I admire the brass neck of disabling it. Equidistance is a free tool that finds the fair halfway meeting point for up to four people based on travel times by public transport, car, bike or on foot. It suggests cafes, restaurants, pubs or parks where everyone’s journey is as equal asfrom equidistance.io

hugpoint.ioMar 2026 · hugpoint.io · ▲4I built hugpoint.io to solve a specific problem: when a group tries to decide where to meet, the first person to suggest somewhere implicitly anchors the decision around their own location. Everyone else agrees to avoid friction. Someone ends up with a disproportionate commute. Nobody mentions it. The tool calculates each person's reachable zone using real transit data (not straight-line distance), finds the intersection, and surfaces Google Places results inside that overlap — ranked by a Fairness Score that measures how equally reachable a venue is for everyone in the group. Technical…

Hello my name is Ben Ward for the past 3 years I have been remastering the financial game Wall Street Raider created by Michael Jenkins originally on DOS in 1986. It has been a rough journey but I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just recently redid the website and thought maybe the full story of how this project came to be would interest you all. Thank you for reading.
