ExifTool
Read, write, and edit metadata in a wide variety of files.
ExifTool launched on January 6, 2018 with 4 votes. The site was still online in September 2026, 8 years on.
What it does
A command-line application and Perl library for reading and writing EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, makernotes and other meta information in image, audio and video files. For Windows, MacOS, and Unix systems.
Note: If exiftool.org goes down, it is because of the crappy DreamHost web hosting which disables an "unlimited traffic" web site if a single bot hammers the site with a moderate load. An alternate ExifTool homepage is available at http://exiftool.sourceforge.net/ NOTE: The crappy DreamHost server can't handle the traffic of the ExifTool web pages, and because of this the unsupportive DreamHost team has disabled the ExifTool web site. This page is a temporary stop-gap. Please go to the ExifTool page on SourceForge for ExifTool documentation, downloads and support until this issue is resolved.
